Passenger Assistance for Missing Belongings
If passengers have misplaced their belongings or find an item that belongs to somebody else at LGBIA, they can report it to the Lost and Found department. Unclaimed items are documented and stored under the supervision of the Duty Terminal Manager.
How to Find and Report Lost Items
If anyone loses their baggage or belongings anywhere in the terminal at LGBIA, rest assured, we will assist in every capacity to locate them. Any unclaimed items are deposited as ‘Lost & Found property’ under the Terminal Executive, ensuring proper documentation, including:
- A detailed record of the item's contents and description
- The date and time of reporting
- The depositor’s signature
Lost and Found Claim Location:
- Unclaimed Items: Unclaimed locked/unlocked baggage and other items will be screened by CISF/BDDS and unlocked, where required, in the presence of the Terminal Executive and the depositor. Items can be collected between 09:00 and 21:00. These items will be stored for up to 90 days and thereafter, unclaimed Lost & Found items will be disposed of as per the process in vogue approved by the CAO/ Terminal Head. LGBIA will take due care of the items but will not be liable for any damage to such items.
- Valuables: The Terminal Executive shall take a picture of the valuables, with tags, (excluding currency notes) in two copies. All valuables shall be duly collected by the designated officer within 24-48 hours of receipt along with a picture and brief description of the item/details of currency notes, place (location) and the date when the same was found, against acknowledgement of receipt. Valuables shall be noted in the valuables/cash register as well. In the event of a holiday, the valuables can be collected on the next working day/succeeding day before noon. Until then, the valuables shall be kept in the safe custody of the Duty Terminal Manager. Valuables not claimed within 180 days shall be disposed of as per the process in vogue approved by the CAO/ Terminal Head.
- Perishable Items: Stored for up to 48 hours. Thereafter, the items will be disposed of with the approval of the Duty Terminal Manager.
- Alcoholic Drinks: Any liquor or other alcoholic drinks found inside the terminal or at the landside shall be kept in the custody of the Terminal Executive – Terminal Operations for 30 days.
- Baggage Handling: The management and delivery of checked-in baggage is the responsibility of the respective airlines. If you accidentally leave items on board an aircraft, you should contact the airline directly. To visit the airline’s website, click here

Any such item will be appropriately processed as per the guidelines. Guwahati International Airport (GIAL) does not offer courier or postal services for lost items, nor insurance or any similar coverage. Items found shall be stored responsibly in line with the retention/storage policy. To reclaim a lost item, individuals must follow the outlined process, including verification of identity and proof of ownership. A valid government-issued ID, boarding pass/ticket, and an authorisation letter (if the item is being collected on someone’s behalf) would be required. Items that remain unclaimed will be managed as per Guwahati International Airport's (GIAL) retention policy.
