About LGBIA

Guwahati Airport, better known as Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport (LGBIA), is the largest airport in the state of Assam. Guwahati, being a major economic hub for tourists, traders and local travellers, serves as a doorway to the seven sister states. All kinds of travellers pass through LGBIA throughout the year, from pilgrims visiting the sacred Kamakhya Temple to tourists coming to see the only abode of the one-horned rhinoceros, Kaziranga National Park.

LGBIA (IATA: GAU, ICAO: VEGT) was granted its status as a fully operational international airport in the year 2000. Welcoming 5.7 million passengers annually before the pandemic, LGBIA was accredited to be the 11th busiest airport in the country with a high passenger growth of 23% (2018-19). Today, it remains the epicentre for connectivity with its single 3110 meters long runway, serving both civil and military aircraft, as well as being the heart of International UDAN, the regional connectivity scheme, rolled out by the Government of India.

LGBIA is where the journey starts, promising a warm welcome and a seamless passage to the incredible wonders of Northeast India.
